Apply for an artist's residency at Rimbun Dahan

 

Rimbun Dahan supports the development and conservation of both traditional and contemporary art forms, from visual arts to theatre, dance and music.


Artists' Residency Programme.
Rimbun Dahan runs a range of artists' residencies to encourage artistic exploration and development, including the year-long Malaysia-Australia Visual Artist Residency and the choreographer's residency, as well as ad-hoc residencies for shorter periods.

The Dance Programme at Rimbun Dahan runs a number of activities throughout the year, including Dance Days, Dancing in Place, and the residency for choreographers.

Resident artists.
Since 1994, more than 30 visual artists have stayed and worked at Rimbun Dahan in year-long residencies. Many other artists from Southeast Asia and Australia, including poets, authors, performance artists, and choreographers, as well as arts managers, have also found inspiration during shorter residencies at Rimbun Dahan.

Permanent collection.
The permanent collection of works of art at Rimbun Dahan includes work by former resident artists as well as works by other Malaysian and international artists. The bulk of the work is exhibited in the Underground Gallery. The garden at Rimbun Dahan is a perfect setting for the collection of outdoor art.

Art for Nature.
An annual showcase of visual art to benefit WWF-Malaysia.

Exhibition openings and other things.
Announcements of exhibition openings and other visual arts events at Rimbun Dahan, as well as letters to the editor and exhibition opening speeches by Angela Hijjas and Hijjas Kasturi.

Balletbase is a small contemporary ballet performance group affiliated with the dance studio at Rimbun Dahan.
