Shifting Boundaries has been a great success! Over RM 270,000 has been raised by sale of works from the exhibition, half of which goes to the participating artists, and half to WWF-Malaysia.

The natural ecosystems that have supported man's rise to industrialized status are on the verge of collapse with every forest felled, natural grassland used for crops, seas scoured for fish. We initiate irriversible change for the sake of our short term needs. Man has truly made his natural home thruoghout the world; he is globalized, while every other species clings ot precarious holds in remote places. More than 6,000 less iconic species are facing extinction with our relentless success and population growth. We have no excuse for such blindness; if nothing else, climate change is rapidly demonstrating we are not immune to such forces. Change accelerates, and the forces of destruction are invading the margins of our security bubble: a lack of freshwater for billions, storms and tides washing away entire countries, the festering pollution of air, water and soil.

How can we reverse this seemingly irresistible force towards our own end?

Where are we going to draw the line between ecological impact and economic growth?

Why do we so studiously avoid looking at these truly hard questions that we assume will miraculously right themselves?

Rimbun Dahan will be open to the public daily during the Art for Nature exhibition from 10am to 8pm from 18 May to 1 June 2008. Admission is free.

Noor Mahnun Mohamed will conduct her curator's talk at 3pm on Saturday 24 May at Rimbun Dahan, and Angela Hijjas will lead a tour of the garden, including the Taman Sari, Rumah Uda Manap, Underground Gallery and artists' studios, at 9am on 1 June. For more information, contact the curator on:
