“In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.”
Andy Warhol (1968)

In our celebrity-driven era, Warhol’s prediction has come true. Reality television programs, YouTube, and Malaysian Idol ensure that everyone who wants can take a shot at fame. Celebrities, regardless of talent or relevance, do generate intense media attention.

00:15 Superstar is an exploration of the hype around celebrities. The theme offers an insight into the image-making that develops this frenzy and the consequences that arise when the shallowest dimensions are exploited. What do celebrities say about who we are and what we value in humanity?

From a conservation point of view, the value of celebrity is a two-edged sword. Some actively use their fame to work for the environment, while others merely perpetuate self-indulgence.

The exhibition 00.15 Superstar will be on display from 13 May to 3 June from 10am to 6pm, open to the public at weekends or by appointment Monday to Friday.

There will be a curator's talk on 19 May at Rimbun Dahan at 3 pm.
Seats to the art talk are limited. Please RSVP to River Foo at 780 33 772
