Artists' accommodation at Rimbun Dahan.

Rimbun Dahan has a number of different styles of accommodation which is provided to artists according to their specific needs and availability:

Studio Apartments

The two studio apartments at Rimbun Dahan were constructed specifically with resident artists in mind, and are generally inhabited by artists in the year-long Malaysia-Australia Visual Artist Residency. The apartments are located above the two art studios, next to the dance studio. Each studio apartment has its own large bed-sitting room, small toilet, small kitchen, and balcony.

Cottage

The semi-detached cottage has two bedrooms, one of which is furnished as a study, bathroom, kitchen, sitting room, and patio. It is located next to the Taman Sari.

Guest Rooms

The two guest rooms each have their own sitting area, en suite bathroom and balcony overlooking the swimming pool. They have access to shared kitchen facilities beneath. The lower level of the guest house also holds studio space. The guest house is located next to the reflective pool across the logia from the main house. The image to the left shows the guest house beyond the reflective pool -- the two guest rooms are behind the blue windows, with their balconies under the red beams to the left.

Ruman Uda Manap

A century-old wooden Malay house, Rumah Uda Manap has been relocated from Perak and restored at Rimbun Dahan. The house contains a large sitting room, two bedrooms, study, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and flexible studio space beneath. For more information, see the page about Rumah Uda Manap.

Rumah Balai

A studio cottage sleeping one or two people, located at the back of Rimbun Dahan adjacent to Rumah Uda Manap and the Penang House. For more images and details, see the page about Rumah Balai.

Penang House

An old colonial-era wooden Malay house from George Town in Penang, relocated and restored at Rimbun Dahan. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the Penang House can provide accommodation for up to four people, and has a spacious lounge area that can be used as studio or performance space.
